Blog-asana: Words on Yoga
After the OM

Dhan's first OM Every Day challenge was quite the experience, for both the participants and myself. As I've mentioned elsewhere, it was a privilege watching members of the Dhan community old and new stretch themselves and find a new experience of yoga. I had the honor of them sharing with me what unfolded throughout, and it was nothing short of amazing and inspiring. Danielle's shift to embrace restorative as part of her practice and coming away refreshed made my day, repeatedly. And Aditi! Her path back to her practice and love of yoga for what it does for her well-being are at the very core of what Dhan is about, all the way down to her comments about community.

I still can't find the words for the profound impact their posts had on me, or the conversations we have had throughout the last several weeks. I know that yoga practice is a powerful thing, and that it can transform and heal body, mind, and spirit. It's done that for me, certainly, as well as countless others. But it never loses its power to humble and amaze me when those in our community share their experiences of what yoga is for them. My experience keeps me coming back to my mat, and yours is what keeps Dhanwantari alive and thriving. It's YOU. The willingness to show up on your mat, for yourself. Showing up to explore, to laugh, to learn, and to allow your practice to transform in whatever way happens for you. We often go to class for ourselves- I know I do, whenever I get the chance! It's easy to overlook what our presence, friendly smile, or even a brief hello before or after a class provide those around us, even when we notice and are buoyed by those same things.

So, while I have been thanked by many who took on the OM Every Day challenge, it's my turn to thank not just those that participated, but also everyone who supported them, asked how it was going, and in general made it a WONDERFUL experience for me, as well. I am already eagerly awaiting January 2, 2015 so we can do it all over again!
